Phoenix Misdemeanor Defense Attorneys

Charged with a Misdemeanor? We Can Help.

While many mistake misdemeanor crimes as relatively minor offenses, Arizona law treats them with significant severity. A conviction creates a permanent criminal record, threatens your future opportunities, and frequently mandates jail time, probation, and steep fines.

These adverse outcomes do not have to be inevitable. At Cates & Reed, PLLC, we have over 25 years of experience, and our criminal defense attorneys understand how to effectively approach a wide range of misdemeanor charges. One of our founding lawyers, Dwane Cates, is also an Arizona board-certified specialist in Criminal Law. We can work tirelessly to seek reductions or dismissals of the charges brought against you or pursue the most favorable result possible at trial. Protecting your freedom and future is our priority, and you can expect to work closely and directly with our attorneys every step of the way.

Don’t wait to discuss your defense options with our team if you have been charged with any of the following types of criminal offenses:

Our Phoenix misdemeanor defense lawyers are prepared to represent Arizonans in Kingman, Yuma, Prescott, Florence, Holbrook, Lake Havasu City, Scottsdale, and the surrounding areas. We answer phones 24/7, so call (480) 864-3807 or contact us online to schedule a consultation now.

What is a Misdemeanor?

In the Arizona legal system, crimes are divided into two primary categories: felonies and misdemeanors. A misdemeanor is a crime that is considered less serious than a felony but more severe than a simple petty offense or civil traffic citation.

Misdemeanors are typically handled in Municipal (City) Courts or Justice Courts. While they do not carry the prison sentences associated with felonies (which are served in state prison), misdemeanors are still criminal offenses. A conviction means you will have a criminal record, which can be seen by employers, landlords, and licensing boards. At Cates & Reed, PLLC, we believe every client deserves a robust defense, regardless of the level of the charge.
